An international conference to engage in an interdisciplinary dialog about the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals, their relevance, progress to date, and challenges in achieving specified targets. This forum will showcase research advances and programmatic innovations regarding global non-communicable diseases (NCDs) within the framework of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), with a specific emphasis on health targets in SDG 3.

Abstracts

The Research Symposium is embedded within a meeting of US investigators and their global collaborators; it will include plenary sessions and technical workshops related to the global NCDs and the SDGs.

Abstracts on any global NCD research issue will be considered. Research on the intersection of NCDs and topics related to targets specified by SDG #3 are highly encouraged. We welcome abstracts that describe approaches to reducing NCD mortality in low-and middle-income countries (LMICs); NCD prevention interventions or policy; NCD surveillance systems; health financing; global partnerships/collaborations to address NCDs in LMICs; implementation science; or the intersection of NCD research with other topical areas, such as HIV.

Notification of Acceptance: 15 July 2016

Submission requirements

1. Cover letter:
     -Address to SDG3 Symposium Program Committee
     -Briefly describe the abstract, its title, and its relevance
     -Include full names, degrees and institutions of all authors
     -Mailing address, telephone number, and email address for the presenting author.
2. Abstract text (300 word max)
3. Optional: 1 table or figure (does not count in abstract text)

Priority will be given to early career investigators within 5 years of their terminal degree.

Registration Information

There are 2 "package" options for symposium registration:  Full Conference Attendee Package and Day Attendee Package.   Everyone attending will need to select one of these packages AND register for the symposium.  The registration link is separate from the Day Attendee Package and the Full Conference Attendee Package links.

Full Conference Attendee Package: For people who are staying at the Conference Center Hotel. Each nightly conference rate includes:  breakfast, lunch, dinner, parking, internet, and one day's conference registration fee.  You do not need to pay the conference registration fee separately if you are staying at the Emory Conference Center Hotel.  It is all inclusive.  Pricing adheres to the US Government per diem rates for Atlanta 2016.

Full Conference Attendee Package Rates

Single:  $319.   

Double/Shared Room: $269 per person.  Must be reserved by contacting Peyton Adkins, Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Eastern Time at 404-712-6045.

NOTE: Rates secured through Hotels.com or other sites do not include the conference fees or meals, which will have to be purchased separately at the Day Attendee Package listed below. 

Day Attendee Package:  This option is payment of registration for people who will NOT be staying at the Emory Conference Center Hotel but will attend one or both days of the conference.  This rate includes continental breakfast, lunch, dinner, parking and conference registration fees. Symposium Day 1 Daily Conference Package with Dinner Reception: $185
Monday August 8 only. Includes conference registration, parking at the Emory Conference Center Hotel, continental breakfast, lunch and coffee breaks, and dinner reception at Rollins School of Public Health.

Symposium Day 1 Daily Conference Package (No Reception Dinner Attendance): $150
Monday August 8 only. Includes conference registration, parking at the Emory Conference Center Hotel, continental breakfast, lunch and coffee breaks.

Symposium Day 2 Daily Conference Package: $150
Tuesday August 9 only. Includes conference registration, parking at the Emory Conference Center Hotel, continental breakfast, lunch and coffee breaks.

Symposium Full Conference Package: $335
Includes conference registration, parking at the Emory Conference Center Hotel, continental breakfast, lunch and coffee breaks for both days, and dinner recpetion on Monday night at Rollins School of Public Health.

Symposium Two Day Conference Package: $300
Includes conference registration, parking at the Emory Conference Center Hotel, continental breakfast, lunch and coffee breaks for both days (no dinner reception on Monday).
